The ERA has completed its review and update of the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Procedure for Portfolio Assessment. This Procedure outlines how the ERA assesses and determines Portfolios, Material Portfolios and Material Constrained Portfolios under the Electricity System and Market Rules.
Our updates to this WEM Procedure are intended to improve clarity, enhance compliance, streamline processes and centralise documentation.
On 6 May 2026, the ERA published the WEM Procedure Update Proposal for Portfolio Assessment. We sought feedback by 4 June 2026 and received two submissions from Alinta Energy and Synergy. These submissions have been published on this web page.
The updated WEM Procedure for Portfolio Assessment will take effect from 1 July 2026 at 8:00am.
