Code of Conduct for the Supply of Electricity to Small Use Customers

The Code of Conduct for the Supply of Electricity to Small Use Customers (Code) regulates and controls the conduct of retailers, distributors and electricity marketing agents who supply electricity to residential and small business customers. The Code was developed to protect the interests of customers who generally have little or no market power. For this reason, the Code only applies to businesses servicing residential and small business customers who consume no more than 160 MWh of electricity per year. This equates to an annual electricity bill of approximately $45,000.

The ERA establishes a statutory committee, the Electricity Code Consultative Committee (ECCC) to undertake a review of the Code every two years. The ECCC also advises the ERA about proposed Code amendments referred to it by the ERA. New members were appointed in April 2026, and we invite you to visit the membership page to find out more.

The 2026 Electricity Code review page (below) will be updated as the review progresses and notice will be provided for the public consultation timeframes.

Please visit the 2024 Electricity Code Review page (below) for information on the previous review and amendments to the Code that came into effect on 1 January 2026.

The Code is available on the WA Legislation Website.
