Gas Licensing

The ERA is responsible for:

  • issuing gas licences to entities distributing or trading gas in Western Australia
  • approving Standard Form Contracts, assessment of customer related documents, the review and development of customer protection provisions and the review and amendment of the Gas Marketing Code of Conduct
  • monitoring and reporting to the Minister for Energy on the operation of the licensing scheme, and compliance by licensees with their licences by arranging for regular performance audits and asset management system reviews and
  • monitoring the performance of gas licensees through the annual collection of performance data, which is also used to prepare reports on the performance of gas retailers and gas distributors.
