On 7 December 2012, the Electricity Industry Metering Code 2005 was replaced by the Electricity Industry Metering Code 2012, which includes an absolute obligation on the network operator to read the meter at least once every 12 months. Consequently, the ERA approved amendments to clause 4.7 of the Code of Conduct for the Supply of Electricity to Small Use Customers, which came into effect on 1 July 2013.
