Gas Licensing - Gas Marketing Code

The Gas Marketing Code of Conduct regulates and controls the conduct of the holders of trading licenses and gas marketing agents, with the object of protecting customers from undesirable marketing conduct and defining standards of conduct in the marketing of gas to customers.

The Economic Regulation Authority is responsible for the making and amending the Gas Marketing Code of Conduct and has appointed a statutory committee, the Gas Marketing Code Consultative Committee (GMCCC), to undertake a review of the Code every two years and advise the ERA about proposed amendments.

During the second half of 2013, the GMCCC conducted its third review of the Code.  The new Gas Marketing Code 2014 was gazetted on 6 December 2013 and took effect on 1 January 2014.


2013 Review
The third review commenced in June 2013. The review was completed in November 2013 with the new Code commencing on 1 January 2014
2011 Review
The second review was undertaken in 2011/12.  The Final Report was published in June 2012
2008 Review
The first review of the Code was undertaken in 2008/09. The Code was gazetted in 2008
