The State Treasurer Eric Ripper asked the Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) on 6 July 2007 to inquire into competition in the water and wastewater services sector in Western Australia.

In accordance with the Terms of Reference, the ERA has provided advice on possible competitive enhancements for the delivery of water and wastewater services and has made recommendations for providing these services in the most efficient, effective and sustainable way.

The ERA published an issues paper, draft report and a further consultation report to help interested parties understand the matters under review and to facilitate public comment and debate. Submissions in response to these reports can be viewed on the public submissions page.

The ERA’s final report was provided to the Treasurer on 30 June 2008, with the report now available to the public.
