Licensing of gas supply and the regulation of the gas industry in general is covered by the Energy Coordination Act 1994 (Act). Under section 11A of the Act, the Governor is required to make, amend or cancel Gas Supply Areas in WA. A provider of gas supply (called a gas trader) must have a licence to provide services within one or more of the Gas Supply Areas in WA.
The Office of Energy is the Government agency responsible to advise the Governor on changes to gas supply areas and for development and update of this map.
