The Economic Regulation Authority's (ERA) Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) surveillance functions involve four areas of responsibility:

• Monitoring and reviewing the WEM in meeting the Wholesale Market Objectives;
• Investigating behaviour that would lead to the Wholesale Market Objectives not being met;
• Reporting to the Minister
• Approving Allowable Revenues, Maximum Reserve Capacity Price and Energy Price Limits
